Youth Excursion

Each year Lacreek Electric sponsors two area students to participate in the South Dakota Rural Electric Youth Excursion. This three day event is headquarted at the Radisson Inn in Bismarck, ND.

Young people attending the excursion have the opportunity to make new friends with participants from other rural electric cooperatives. The trip includes sight-seeing and the opportunity to learn more about electric cooperatives.

Participants tour the Great Plains Synfuels Plant, Freedom Coal Mine, and the Antelope Valley Station Power Plant. Evening activities may include swimming, cruising on the Lewis and Clark Riverboat, attending a dance, and shopping.

All 14 to 16-year old students whose parents or guardians are members of Lacreek Electric are eligible. The trip is funded by Lacreek Electric. Funding for the trip provides each participant’s transportation, lodging, meals, entertainment and sight-seeing events. Students are required to supply their own personal shopping money.
